Camp

I’ll be off to camp in a week.  Jenny, Sam, and I will be at Michiana Christian Service Camp in Niles, MI for Junior High 1 next week.  We leave Sunday and will be back late on Friday night.

I love camp.  It’s made a difference in my life, and I’ve seen it work on so many other people also.

Here’s some totally random thoughts on camp….

Rise and Shine

Run up the flag and doing devotions

Tetherball

Baptisms in the river and in the lake

Potlicking on the lodge side

Late night pranks

Raiding the fridge

Round Lake

Ralph

Marla

Jeff Curtis and I hammering Coop on the basketball court when he was about 17.  It shut him up for at least a week. :-)

Building the campfire on the lodge side

Jim and Brian Borton

Kevin Odor

Mike Tuttle

Mahoning Valley Christian Service Camp

The Hollar boys

14,000+ feet in Colorado (which time?)

Pat Hartson, the ultimate Mean Dean

Hitting the peak with my dad (HEY DUCK!), and having the photos to prove it (Thanks Richard)

Backpacking through the tail end of a hurricane in New Hampshire

40+ miles on the AT while carrying most of Mom’s gear

Capture the Flag

Mark Hamilton turning green in Leadville – and I mean that literally

Day hikes at Wilderness camp, with Penultimate Mean Dean – Jeremy “Red” Westbrook

Preaching vespers under the cliff

Bryan and Kate and Amanda and Tab and Dale and Darren (RIP) and Matt and Cade and Hillary and Maia and Jeremiah and Ed and Curtis and Angie and Jaime and Amy and Tab and Mark and Brian and Coop and Rob and ……………………………………………

Randy hitting on the faculty member (somebody with last name of Ferguson) who was about twice his age and married to a guy about 3 times his size lolololol

Leading worship with Micah Carrick when everything just went right

22 inch bass

Waking mom up at 5:30 AM to ask if she had some rope for our anchor (one of the biggest mistakes of my life)

I could go on forever, but I’ve got to get some more work done today.  We’re on vacation the week after camp, so I’ll be on hiatus for a couple of weeks at least….

  2. How can you not love Ralph!?! I miss my Rould Lakin’ days…good times!

    • Hey Meggan, what’s up! I love and miss RLCA too… how’s everything in Westerville these days?

      • Glad you had a good week of camp in MI…things in Westerville are great. The summer has been very busy but aren’t they all?!? We’re getting geared up for a big event that we’re doing with World Vision in September. It’s called Step Into Africa. It should be pretty amazing. Here’s the link to check it out. http://www.worldvisionexperience.org/
I think they have an exhibit in Michigan but I’m not sure where yet. Tell Jenny I said hello…we sure do miss you guys! Hope the rest of the fam is well!

        • Looks to me like the Michigan Exhibit might be only two blocks away from me! Fair Haven Ministries is a mega-church that is in our little corner of West Michigan. How small is this world…….

  3. Hey Nater,

    Love,
    Dad
