Living It - Great News

Mark 1:1 (ESV)

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

MARK WAS AN EVANGELIST

Romans 3:23

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

MARK WAS FASCINATED BY JESUS

Mark 1:14b-15

Jesus went into Galilee, where he preached God’s Good News. “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

Mark Moore

“The gospel is not merely the story of Jesus FOR the church but the proclamation of salvation THROUGH the church.

The gospel is the good news that each of us can have our sins forgiven. Yet it’s more than good news for an individual. It’s the good news of a new nation.”

“THE GREAT EXCHANGE”

2 Corinthians 8:20-21

So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:3-5

I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me.

Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.

He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

(And) He was seen by Peter, and then by the Twelve.

The Gospel Prayer

“In Christ, there is nothing I can do that would make you love me more, and nothing I have done that makes You love me less.”

“Your presence and approval are all I need for everlasting joy.”

“As you have been to me, so I will be to others.”

“As I pray, I’ll measure Your compassion by the cross

and Your power by the resurrection.”
