IMMEDIATELY IS A POWERFUL WORD
Mark 1:15 (ESV)
AND SAYING, “THE TIME IS FULFILLED, AND THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND; REPENT AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL.”
WHAT IS FAITH?
Hebrews 11:1-2 and 6
1-2 Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.
6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who SINCERELY SEEK him.
A GREAT DEFINER OF FAITH
It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac
What is faith?
“Complete Trust or confidence in someone or something “
Mark 1:14b – 15
Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
BELIEVE / REPENT = TAKE ACTION ON YOUR BELIEF
THE “FRUIT OF FAITH” IS OBEDIENCE
MARK’S GOSPEL IS FILLED WITH URGENCY
So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”
WHAT IS FAITH?
Genesis 22:1-2 and 12-14 (MSG)
After all this, God tested Abraham. God said, “Abraham!”
“Yes?” answered Abraham. “I’m listening.”
He said, “Take your dear son Isaac whom you love and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I’ll point out to you.”
12 (An angel of God) “Don’t lay a hand on that boy! Don’t touch him! Now I know how fearlessly you fear God; you didn’t hesitate to place your son, your dear son, on the altar for me.”
13 Abraham looked up. He saw a ram caught by its horns in the thicket. Abraham took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.
14 Abraham named that place God-Yireh (God-Sees-to-It). That’s where we get the saying, “On the mountain of God, he sees to it.”
