Living It - Love

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

What our culture tells you is…Love is a primarily a feeling.

“For God SO LOVED the world that He gave his only son…”

The word that the NT writers dusted off was the old Greek word “agape”.

The New Testament writers transformed agape into a word that describes, not a FEELING, but God’s sacrificial love.

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (NLT)

We are called to that same kind of agape action love that God showed us when he sacrificially gave his own Son Jesus to us as a gift that we didn’t deserve.

John 3:16 reminds me and you that you are not called by God to “FEEL” a certain way about your family – your neighbor – your enemy. You are called by God to “ACT” in a certain way toward them. Because Love Acts.

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
